Polk City Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?

Practiced for 3,000 years in asia.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory, the body has energy meridians (or highways) in which vital energy flows. Acupuncture points lie along the meridians and are places in which energy can become blocked or stagnant.

If this vital energy becomes blocked long enough, your body will develop symptoms to let you know that something is wrong, and if nothing is done to correct the problem these symptoms can lead to loss of function, pain, or disease.

Chiropractic and Acupuncture work together to stimulate your nervous system to in turn heal your body naturally. Chiropractic works through the joints to stimulate your nervous system while acupuncture works through the skin and organ systems to stimulate the nervous system. Used together it is an ideal approach!

Do I have to use needles?

Absolutely not! Although the needles are completely painless there is another instrument we can use which uses a low level electrical impulse.

How long will a treatment take?

With needles, you need to rest for up to 20-45 minutes for maximum benefit. With our acupuncture instrument the session can be as quick as 5-10 minutes.

What will happen on my first visit?

We will perform a painless computer diagnostic scan of your meridians with only needing access to your hands and feet. After analyzing the scan and discussing your symptoms, Dr. JoAnn will show you exactly where you should receive treatment and explain why.

Dr. JoAnn Asks some important questions of interest to Polk City residents - Chiropractor Polk City Dr. JoAnn Asks...

What can a chiropractor do for asthma?
Many people think of chiropractic as exclusively dealing with the spine. But I'm interested in the spine because it covers the nervous system. Problems in the spine can produce problems in the organs and tissues controlled by the affected nerves—including those to the lungs and bronchial tubes. Find out how chiropractic care has helped those with asthma.
How could a child benefit from chiropractic?
Regardless of our age, each of us in Polk City encounters physical, chemical and emotional stresses that exceed our ability to handle. For newborns, it could be the trauma encountered at birth. For toddlers it could be from learning to walk or ride a bike. Many of the problems we chiropractors see in adults are the result of neglected traumas from childhood.
